The Gehman Chip Trials

Just look at those faces. The amount of time it takes to drive around the Northwest is amazing and these kids have been real troopers. At this point we have driven over 5,300 miles. So, what in the world do you do to pleasantly pass that amount of time in the car?  Sure, there is mile after mile of God’s amazing creation to see from the window, but as unbelievable as it may seem, endless hours of driving across the prairie begin to seem just that - endless. There are quite a few things we have done to help the travel portions of the trip be more pleasant. Most of them we planned ahead of time, but one idea that presented itself has been a lot of fun throughout the trip - the Chip Trials. On this drive we have seen all kinds of chips and flavors we have never seen before. So the idea was born. A few times a day, when we stop for gas/coffee/bathroom breaks, I choose four or five small bags of chips that we have never tried before. Then when we are on the road, we try them one bag at the time. Everyone gets about 3 chips each and then we see which flavors we do or don’t like.

Some of the flavors I can remember that we’ve tried: All Dressed, Mozzarella and Marinara, Honey Barbecue, Honey Dijon, Pepperoncini, Lime, Jalapeño Ranch, Queso, Salsa Verde. Those aren’t the only ones we’ve tried, but just a sampling of flavors. The most surprising flavor that we all really liked -  Pepperoncini!

And just because no one wants to read a blog post without pictures, I’ll include this one that I took of the sunrise from our campground this morning.
